Medium ruby with garnet reflections. Ripe black fruit on the nose followed by leather, spice, and vanilla. A touch of white pepper. Confident and delightful black fruit on the palate: black berry and black cherry nestled in cedar and vanilla. Classic notes of capsicum from the Cabernet Franc fill the background, but gently and with finesse. Soft tannins good acidity. Plenty of ripe black fruit on the medium finish. This single vineyard Cab Franc from Ried Neugebirge - a site characterized by heavy loam soils and sandy gravel, should maintain itself quite well over the next 6 to 7 years.
