Leo Hillinger Grüner Veltliner Terroir 2016
12% abv. Jois, Burgenland.

With one foot planted in Burgenland and the other firmly planted in Burgundy, Terroir from Leo Hillinger is out to make a bold statement. Creamy green apple and lemon zest aromas wrapped around a sweet core of honey and crême brulée continue on the palate with zesty playfulness. Pastry flavours of warm brioche and vanilla custard glide to a decadent medium finish. Delicious. The dense structure is confidently framed by crystal-clear acidity and a mineral flinty texture. The Grüner Veltliner is grown in multiple vineyards in the Leithaberg Hills near Jois where limestone and schist are found in abundance. Matured on gross lees for 4 months and then another 10 months on fine lees in 2000 litre Austrian oak. Organic farming.
