14% abv. Großhoflein, Burgenland.
The 2006 vintage is widely heralded as the vintage of the century for red wines in Burgenland and this stunning Cabernet Sauvignon certainly lives up to the critical acclaim. A deep purple colour with violet reflections. With time, a heady bouquet of cassis, blackberry and cherry with subdued cedar and vanilla notes delicately interlaced through the fruit fills the glass. The palate offers plush, rich blackberry and bramble elegantly defined and purposeful. There is an unmistakable sheen to this wine with its fine acidity and tannins building into a harmonious, stylish medium finish. Tantalizingly classic and traditional but with a distinctly new personality. Superb. Aged in new barrique. Drink now until 2026.
