Kollwentz Blaufränkisch Leithakalk 2015
Updated: Jun 15, 2020
14% abv. Großhöflein, Burgenland

Medium ruby with garnet reflections. Red and black fruit on the nose. Wild strawberries and black cherries. This hails from a warm vintage but there is plenty of freshness and vigour in the wine. On the palate, the wine shows depth and density with black cherries, black field berries and strawberries confidently leading the way. Secondary notes of spice and vanilla linger in the background. Sourced from Haussatz, Setz and Reisbühel vineyards near Großhöflein. Matured in new barriques for 18 months. Evolving well. Drink now perhaps best closer to 2023. Excellent.
